love at first click | huntingburg, indiana baby photographer

When Momma set this blonde-haired, blue-eyed cutie down and he flashed me this sweet little grin, I was Smitten with a capital S! Being able to combine my love for babies & the creative art of photography is deeply rewarding. However, I’ve come to realize that working with sweet little babies has probably only added to my baby craziness. It is hard to refrain from giving my littlest clients big squeezy hugs & smooches. I manage to keep it to sweet baby talk. If anyone ever needed a newborn niece or nephew, it would be me! (Sadly, there are none in my immediate future at this time.)
Amy, thanks again for a wonderful session! Being a mother of four has surely contributed to your super laid back attitude & that always makes for a fun session with beautiful results! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek. There is more cuteness to come in your gallery!
.
Much to Matthew’s delight, we ended his first birthday session with a cake smash! I posted the 2nd photo below on my facebook page last night because I just couldn’t wait to finish the blog sneak peek. You can fan me on facebook by clicking the facebook icon on the top left of this page or click here. I’m just getting started on facebook and I anticipate adding some additional features & items of interest for clients & photographers alike down the road.

My baby’s first year plan includes 3 custom sessions: Newborn, Sitting Up, & First Birthday! Please email me for more details at info@laceyreimann.com.

our lake michigan getaway | indiana nature photographer
Posted on August 19, 2010
Jon and I thoroughly enjoyed our recent extended weekend on Lake Michigan. I was so glad to have taken a camera & one lens! Every time I leave the house without my camera, I regret it. I see a hundred (this may be a conservative figure) “photos” that I want to take. But I often want to leave the camera at home so I can be present in the moment and also don’t want the responsibility of safeguarding my equipment plus lugging it around. I knew if I didn’t take my camera on our little trip, I would regret it. I’ve enjoyed preparing this post and looking at the images of our relaxing little getaway. Plus, the beauty of nature photography vs. portrait, no editing required! Here are some of my favorite images, SOOC (straight out of camera), of our trip.
The waves were huge the first day of our trip and we had so much fun! Between the strong rip tide and the force of the waves,
it was a challenge to stay on your feet! We were laughing at each other getting wiped out by a surprise wave!

This was the view when we reached the summit of the 126-foot sand dune.

I have a framed photo in my living room, taken 4 years ago with my old point and shoot camera, of this very same tree cluster.
I had to photograph it again on this trip. What’s really cool is Brayden saw these pictures and said “that’s the same trees in the picture
in the living room!” It’s sad to think these trees won’t be there for much longer.
This was the view halfway down the other side of the dune.

And, a beach view of the dune. If you look closely at the top left of the dune, you’ll see 3 people standing.
Beautiful days & perfect temps! The photo below on the upper right is an I-Phone self portrait that we sent to the kids.
The twins didn’t miss us. They had so much fun with Aunt Leah! They weren’t ready to end their little vacation at her house.

babies turn into kindergartners | dubois mamarazzi
Posted on August 12, 2010
So it’s official. The twins have started their 13-year (K-12) school career. They were so excited this morning and practically leaped out of bed. They were rushing me because they were so worried they were going to miss the bus. The bus that has been passing our house for years. The bus that my diaper-clad toddlers turned preschoolers were so eager to watch on school days in years past. Today the bus stopped at our house for them. And, yes, my eyes are welling a bit after typing that. No, I’m not sad that they are at school. I’m not sitting here missing them terribly. I’ll admit it’s nice to have uninterrupted time to work and the ability to go to the gym first thing in the morning. But, what I am sad about is that one chapter of our lives–the twins and momma together from morning ’til night, free to go or do as we wish–is over. It’s hard to believe that how we have lived for 5 1/2 years is now no longer. And with that, I’m reminded of the advice we are all given during pregnancy or when our children are babies: Enjoy them–they grow up quick! So true. Sadly, I don’t think we can fully understand or appreciate that advice until it’s too late. We’re so caught up in the day to day and always wishing for the next stage…..”I can’t wait until he can start eating solids”…..”I can’t wait until he can start entertaining himself more”…..”I can’t wait until he’s walking”…..”I can’t wait until he’s out of diapers.” Those milestones will all come quickly enough. But once the days you have now are past, they are gone forever.
I’m sad to think of all the wishing-time-away that I did in the twins’ first 5 years. But I’m excited about this new chapter we’ve started and I hope to appreciate each day a little more. I’m excited about being able to be home to send them off to school and then go to the gym. I’m excited about being able to greet them at the front door when they get off the bus each afternoon. And, I’m excited about having uninterrupted office hours and then “clocking out” and spending the afternoons/evenings with the kids and cooking & having supper together.
Note: This is Brayden’s fake expression–he was so excited that trying to get a natural smile & eyes on the camera was out of the question. And, no, I didn’t tell them to hold hands–they did it on their own. Sigh……I’m feeling the need to photograph newborn twins.
And while strolling down memory lane to retrieve that newborn snapshot, I couldn’t resist sharing a few other snapshots from their first year at my favorite age: 6-8 months. As a PSA, make sure you take lots of photos, even if they are just snapshots, because someday you’ll thank yourself. Every time I go through the twins’ baby photos, I’m so grateful that I picked the camera up so often and especially glad that I captured a lot of day-in-the-life shots of the twins interacting. Yes, they’re horrible from a technical standpoint (flash & crazy shadows, composition, distortion, etc., etc.), but from a sentimental standpoint, they’re priceless beyond words!
Now, I better get to the gym & get back to tackle the biz to-do list before the bus brings my little Kindergartners home!

the best way to start a week | jasper, indiana newborn photographer
Posted on August 11, 2010
.
This week is really kicking my butt. As in, I sat down twice today in the living room and dozed off both times. I’m not sure if it’s due to the relaxing weekend getaway Jon and I just took (I’ll be posting some photos soon) that spoiled me with long days spent reading & relaxing at the beach. Or if it’s because, since returning, I’ve been going, going, going and trying to mark things off the list. Or maybe it’s because I’m adjusting to a new schedule. We’ve been going to bed early & getting up early to get into the routine for school. It’s kind of hard to believe that, as of tomorrow, the days of taking care of my children morning to night will be no longer. They are officially Kindergartners! Time truly flies, which makes me a bit sad.
Their clothes are laid out, their backpacks and shoes by the door, their lunches ready to be packed into their Hello Kitty & Toy Story lunch bags. Now I just have to remember to video them & take photos. On a side note, it’s fun to take a quick video and “interview” your kiddo(s) before heading off on the first day of school. We recently watched the video I took of Brayden & Denae on their first day of preschool and we were shocked at how babyish they looked & talked! I also did a video after the first day to record their thoughts/how the day went (also interesting!).
So, before I turn in for the night, I wanted to share the sweetness that is this little guy…..my childhood bff’s newest addition, Carter. I had the joy of snuggling this adorable baby boy on Monday. I wouldn’t mind starting every week with snuggling a newborn. Sigh…..
