(1) 3-year old little guy with classic good looks
(3) stylin’ outfits + (1) super cool hat
(1) retro tricycle
(7) colorful balloons
(1) beautiful morning at the beach
(1) slithering snake (ICK!)
(1) torrential downpour
(1) melty ice cream cone
(lots) of smiles & a little laughter, too!

Mix those all together and you get one crazy morning at the beach and several great photos to boot! You might recognize this handsome little towhead–he made a couple appearances on my former blog. While I wanted to feature some of those photos in my galleries (above), I do not offer sessions for children 13 months- 4 years. However, I always welcome repeat clients, no matter the age! As soon as our session was underway, Cam’s Mama said “well, I realize why you don’t offer sessions for this age group.” It was apparent that Cam’s agenda and our agenda weren’t aligned.  :- )  Fortunately, I had a few tricks up my sleeve that worked like a charm! I think I need to hire Cam’s Mama as a client fashion consultant–she always chooses the perfect classic clothing for Cam’s sessions!

An interesting bit of info: I thought it was rather appropriate that this happened to be my first session with my new camera body and Cam was my very first skill-building session after purchasing my first DSLR in 2008. Oh, how we’ve both grown! (And, hopefully I’ll continue to grow right along with him!)

CLASS OF 2011 SENIORS, how about a beach session??? I have to admit, I had so much fun “negotiating” with a 3-year old this morning to get some great images that I can only imagine the session possibilities with a senior!! Use the Contact tab above to email me about scheduling your Senior session at the beach!

Miss Mady made my day when, at the end of our session, she reached for me to hold her. Awwww!!!! She knows the way to MY heart! The best part about baby sessions is the sweet little smiles, adorable babbling, and seeing that curiosity in their eyes as they discover new things. On-the-job hugs and cuddles are a definite bonus! Madelyn joined the first birthday club just a few days ago and I’m sure her Mama is wondering where that first year went! Here are some more favorites of Miss Mady & also some of the custom items we designed.
.

This is the 16×20 Gallery Mount Collage we custom-designed. These collages feature a thick, black hardwood frame. They are delivered ready to hang.

Mady’s DVD case & mini-accordion albums.
The mini albums are available with full images or your choice of designs such as the one shown below.

Mady, I hope your first birthday party was extra special and lots of fun!!!

If only I had the time to blog as often as I wanted, this would be a busy blog! I’m getting “caught up” (I’ll use those terms loosely) on client orders, processing, designing, and deliveries so I’m taking this opportunity to share some more favorites of one of my favorite babies. Little Mr. Cash is a photographer’s dream–so easygoing, sweet, and adorable! I thoroughly enjoyed capturing him throughout his first year, starting with his newborn photography session, then his six-month session last fall, and now his first birthday session we did in May. Add to that, Cash’s parents are also very easygoing & put their trust in me fully and you have the recipe for a wonderful session! LOVE working with this sweet little family of three!
.

The Radio Flyer Walker Wagon was a huge hit with Cash! I think he could have walked for miles! We just stood back & watched the show.
Mama ordered a wall portrait of this one:

A boy and his bunny. Does it get any cuter than this??? (Not in my book!)

And, I just had to include this humorous photo of Cash “complaining”. Don’t worry, it was over in a flash and involved no tears.

And one more wagon favorite–Mama ordered a canvas of this one:

And here’s a photo of the canvas:

And here’s a photo of the CD case I designed. This is as creative as it gets for my product photography, folks:

And one last photo of [almost] everything all wrapped up & ready for delivery:

And that concludes this monster post! I’ve got another in the works for this week!

Tonight I decided to take a little break to go through some of the tons of personal images I’ve accumulated and never get the chance to process. The images-I’d-like-to-blog list is growing by the shutter click but time to do so is not increasing at a parallel rate. So, for tonight, I’ll share these photos I took of my niece, Audrey, when she visited last week. She just so happened to be wearing a tutu.  ;- )

With the little ones (toddler to preschool age), there really is no “posing” or “directing.” You really have to lead them to the best light and pull out every trick in the book to try to get them to stay in that general vicinity (while also keeping them happy). The candid shots that result with these little ones often turn out so fun (see ducky shot below right–a fav of mine)!
