“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”  ~Anne Bradstreet

A very fitting quote for this post. If you’ve followed my blog for very long, you probably know that nature was my first photography love and it is still a great passion of mine. If I am in need of a little photo therapy, setting out with my camera to capture the beauty of nature brings me great joy! I prefer to lose track of time and soak up every visual detail around me.

March has been a grief-filled month, primarily due to an overwhelming family emergency earlier this month and days spent at the hospital. My uncle, who was in a major car accident, is now home and has been remarkable in his recovery!! There are no words to express how grateful I am for my Uncle Matt!

With Spring’s much-welcomed arrival, I look forward to the days and weeks to come! It is a time for fresh starts and all things beautiful! After rescheduling some March sessions, this blog will be busy in April with new posts of beautiful babies and beautiful faces! Note, April is fully booked but there are one or two sessions up for grabs in May. Email me at info@laceyreimann.com for details.

In the past, I have been pleased to get a good response to my nature photography posts. I have so many flower and nature photos, taken throughout last year, that were never shared. I’ll be taking many more this year, of course! So, I’d like to start doing a Nature post here on the blog once a month! Up next: either a newborn (due any day) or an irresistible one-year old baby boy! Stay tuned!

Don’t let this important milestone pass without a special portrait session to commemorate the occasion! If you’re interested in scheduling a first communion mini-session at a special rate, please email me at info@laceyreimann.com. If you would like to host a first communion mini-session party for you and your friends, your mini-session fee will be complementary.

After receiving the last nomination email and the contest coming to a close on Monday, I spent the better part of this week stressing over choosing the winner. The nominees were all wonderful!! Thanks so much to each of you that took the time to nominate someone!

Ultimately, the decision came down to two equally amazing young ladies. Both girls are very involved in their communities and church, school organizations, and participate in sports through their school. There was just no way I could choose a winner between the two of them. So, there are TWO winners! In addition to the Grand Prize, I am also awarding a Runner-Up prize package worth over $700!! The Runner-Up will receive A VIP senior session, a $50 gift card to the salon of choice for professional hair styling & makeup application, plus a portrait collection including prints, wallets, and a 4×8 accordion album!

To fairly choose the winner and runner-up between the top two contenders, I had my sister-in-law draw a name for the Grand Prize winner. So, without further ado…..

Congratulations, Hannah & Erin! Watch your inboxes this weekend for all the exciting details! I cannot wait to meet you and capture some amazing images!!

You might be surprised to see this post of almost all dogs on my blog. While I am not a pet photographer, I love to incorporate my clients’ pets into their sessions when possible. For many families, their pets were their first “kids.” I recently photographed Miss Clemmy while in Indianapolis and posted one of her photos on my facebook page here. In response to my fans, I’m posting more from Clementine’s session as well as some other pups I’ve photographed.

Clemmy was so easy to photograph! Encouraging her to “pose” how I wanted was a breeze!

If you’re a blog follower, you probably recognize these handsome fellas (here and here)! Sweet Crosley was so patient to let us capture
this photo of her and the boys. Can you imagine having three little brothers?!!  ;- )
In addition, Crosley also has a “little sister”, Mags. Being a puppy, Mags is very energetic and knows how to find *ahem* trouble.
She may or may not have eaten a package of portraits that the UPS man delivered. Let’s just say that I saw the evidence and it looked pretty incriminating.
Good thing they purchased digital files & could easily reorder!

We’ll wrap this post up with Lucy, one of my father’s dogs. She has a reputation for being slightly annoying–always under your heels,
in your face, and–if you sit down–on your lap, despite being fairly large. The word “no” is beyond her grasp.

This concludes the first-ever pet post! I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below or on facebook!
