Leah & Tito’s Wedding Day!
Posted on May 29, 2012
NOTE: I am not a wedding photographer and do not offer wedding photography. : ) My niche is in creating gorgeous, personality-rich portraits of babies, children, and high school seniors!
My sister’s wedding day rushed by in the blink of an eye. As her matron of honor, I was busy all day–starting with the 5k fun run, back to her home to shower, then off to our hair & makeup appointment, which left us maybe an hour at the venue to quickly dress and cover any last-minute prep. It was far too frenzied, but I’m grateful to have had 5-10 minutes with Leah right before the ceremony and then a few quick minutes post ceremony to capture a few images for myself. As a photographer, it was truthfully a bit agonizing to not have the time and creative liberty to capture the images I wished. Here are a few favorites from the limited set of images I captured that afternoon. As a wedding present, Leah and Tito will be receiving many images from his sister, Amanda, and her husband, Felix, who covered the entire evening, right up to the couple riding off on their bicycle built for two! I can’t wait to see all the gorgeous images the two of them captured!
Leah’s Nicole Miller dress is obviously PERFECT for her! Funny back story: we were in the dressing room and had already tried on 3 or 4 contenders when we got to the last dress hanging. I took one look at it and said, “Do we even have to try this one on?!” I’m glad she insisted. THIS was the ONE! : ) Yes, I make a better photographer than I do a matron of honor.

My talented friend, Mindy Wiseman, did the bouquets and boutonnieres. If you’re in the Louisville or Southern Indiana area, look her up!
Photo on right, below: A completely spontaneous moment and thus the technical shortcomings.
I chose to capture (and share) the moment and overlook the technical imperfections.

And lastly, my spot. I was already trying to stifle my frustration over not having any creative liberties or time to photograph my beautiful sister
and the love of her life. So, when they were ready to join their family and friends for their reception, I begged for just ONE photo op.
As far as I’m concerned, the resulting images below were worth it.
Another funny note–as my husband and I looked through the wedding photos, he commented that “Tito always has this cool look” and
made a reference to James Bond. Then this past weekend, he tried to pull off the Tito “cool look.” Didn’t work out, haha!

Congratulations, my cherished sister. My eyes welled up as I just typed that. I hoped for many years that you’d find someone that
brought love and laughter to your every day. There isn’t a better-suited man out there. Tito, I’m glad you cherish my sister, too, and
share her interests and sense of humor. I love you both!!
